Some days (OK, let’s be honest,
50% 70% of the time) I want to stay in my cozy bed forever and never change out of my pyjamas. Especially when it starts getting dreary out and the floors start getting cold. I’ve been thinking about what gives me the little push in the mornings — and yes, sometimes it’s the cheesy “I’m going to make a difference today” line — but more often than not, it’s the little things. Breakfast (always including hash browns) is a big one. A warm cup of tea. Opening the shutters and watching the light spill into the room. And as shallow as this may sound, thinking about what I’m going to wear also helps. Putting together an outfit has become a process that clears my head and gets me excited for what’s ahead.
On this day I was feeling particularly stressed and anxious. But putting on this billow-sleeved, gingham-printed blouse gave me a boost that was much needed. It was a “yes, I’m wearing a dramatic top, a leather skirt, AND over-the-knee boots; yes, it might be a little much, but I feel great” kind of day. 😉
