clémence & polka

Back in college a good friend and I had a long discussion about the key to the perfect “studying” dress. Our thesis: comfort is of utmost importance, but it should also make the wearer feel cute and like themselves (trust me, that feeling disappears sometimes when you’re up at 5 am writing a paper, realize what you’ve written has been completely off-topic, then you watch the sunrise and think what is life). After a bit of searching online and exploring the possibility of starting our own clothing line designed exclusively for college students who want nice dresses to study in, we called it quits and returned to our papers.

The conclusion to this discussion arrived (two years later, unfortunately) in the form of this beauty from Clémence the Label — it ticks all the checkboxes: loose (but not too loose), soft, easily layered, yet still makes me feel put-together. Made from mulberry silk and printed with oversized polka dots, it’s the perfect blend of polish and playful. Depending on my mood and occasion, I can change up the look through accessories. This was on a Sunday, so I opted for laid-back sneakers; but I can definitely see myself wearing this with a pair of pointed flats for a polished look, or heeled ankle boots (+ a leather jacket) for an edgier take. Truly the ultimate throw-on-and-go dress.
