charcoal & wine

Aritzia has been my go-to place for winterwear that I know I can rely on to get me through the Bostonian temperatures (while still looking somewhat put together). This cocoon wool coat is one of the pieces I found in their fall/ winter sale. It has a relaxed, cardigan-like fit that leaves plenty of room for thick layers. Decked out in a gorgeous charcoal-and-wine plaid print, it can add a laid-back luxe finish to any outfit.

The Madewell turtleneck dress I layered underneath is a piece I know I’ll have in my wardrobe for seasons to come. The top half is a supersoft turtleneck and the bottom half a silky shirt-dress. Throw it on and you’re ready to go (to work, dinner, drinks — anything). I paired it with a statement necklace to amp it up a little bit.

Excuse the pink nose — it was majorly cold and windy and my capillaries (and hair) went a little crazy. (Note to self: no blush necessary on freezing cold days.)

Hi! So cool that you’re a medical science writer/ blogger 🙂 I don’t remember the specific name of the tights but they’re from urban outfitters, and I bought the most opaque kind (browsed their website but couldn’t find the link). They should be selling them in store though! Hope this was helpful and thank you so much for the lovely comment!

Haha, yea when in Boston, I’ve learned that I have to layer quite a bit under coats to keep warm 🙂 Thank you so much for stopping by!

Hello, Love the coat and have seen it in their fall collection. My only concern is pilling. I saw someone had it and it looked a bit messy. What are your thoughts?

    • August 25, 2016 / 3:44 pm

Hi Camilla! Sorry about the late reply. I haven’t had problems with pilling yet, and I wore it quite a bit last fall through winter. I’d say it’s like any other wool coat – as long as you take good care of it (dry clean only), it’ll last quite long! Plus I love how many color options there are 🙂 I hope this helps!!
