review: mulberry cara delevingne bag

Happy Sunday everyone! If you read my first post, you may remember how I claimed I’d need an entire blog post to show my love for the Mulberry Cara Delevingne bag — well here it is. 🙂

Before I start my list of all the good things about this bag, it’s worth noting that it isn’t really an “everyday” bag: the quilted leather requires a good amount of babying and it’s a little fiddly to open and close. Now, with that out of the way…

The beauty of the Cara Delevingne bag is that it comes with two removable (and adjustable!) straps, allowing one to wear it three different ways: 1) hand-held with no strap; 2) with one strap, over-the-shoulder; 3) with two straps, as a backpack. I think the variety of ways you can wear this bag — and the ease with which you can transition between them — sets it apart from other designer bags.

1) Hand-held

This style gives off a more elegant, grown-up, but still understated feel. Think date-night or fancy brunch (or even an elevated donut-run!).

2) Over-the-shoulder

Slung over one shoulder, this look is more casual; perfect for those days when you’re running errands and need your hands free.

3) Backpack

Just by adding the other strap, the bag instantly becomes more edgy and playful. I don’t know of another bag that is able to toggle between lady-like elegance and edgy-chic so seamlessly.

Lastly, the bag is pretty spacious. You can fit all of the following inside (with space to spare for a light scarf and a couple of chocolate bars):

Guess which style of wearing this bag is my favorite? 😉

Gorgeous bag. I love your review though. With the way I am with my bags, this definitely wouldn’t be the once for me. It does look stunning over your shoulder though. Very chic & sophisticated!

How is the wear and tear of the bag and leather? I am someone who is planning to purchase this bag, and want to know if it is worth splurging for.

Hi! I’ve had the bag for around a year now, and I can say that it’s wearing very well. It does require some maintenance (put some waterproof coating on it, don’t use it in heavy rain etc.), but overall it’s doing great. It also fits a surprising amount of stuff! I also love how you can wear it in multiple ways — makes it very versatile. I hope this helped! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I bought this bag in Mini today from a Mulberry Outlet centre – so excited! Do you have any tips for care of the leather? Lauren – http://www.theyoproedit.com

Hi Lauren! That is so exciting!! A few things I would do is to 1) apply a water-resistant coating made especially for leather – that way if you do get caught in the rain, it won’t ruin the bag; 2) moisturize it with leather conditioner once in a while to keep it nice and supple; and 3) try to put makeup/ pens etc. in a pouch so the inside doesn’t get stained (although I have failed on this last one many times hehe). Hope this helps and that you enjoy your new bag! 🙂
